The Giving Tree

Enchanted Forest is more than just a Halloween party. It's a fundraiser for our Health program with Sentinel High School freshman. When you visit the forest, LOOK for our GIVING TREE, a very special tree full of laughter, dreams and stories. Read what's on her leaves: stories about what the teens we are working with want support in this year. On our first day of classes, we shared that health is not just the absence of disease or a fit body, but mental, emotional and physical well being. Then we led students to consider: What are your wellness goals? Where do you need support to be the most alive and healthy version of yourself? We asked, they shared. Creativity Abound at SponCon!

This past weekend the Turning the Wheel Missoula team packed up our favorite bunch of sticks and supplies and made our way down to SPON CON! The day was full of magic and fun as we created wands and staffs with found objects. Thanks to Home Resource for inviting us. Children and families loved it! One family said “Thank you for providing such a creative opportunity for my daughter. She could do this for hours!” (And she did!) And thank you to photographer Hans Hoffman for the beautiful images of the event!

Sunday Streets Success!

Here in Missoula, a wonderful organization called Missoula in Motion hosts an annual event called Sunday Streets. This is a great day where pedestrians, bicyclists, fitness advocates, local organizations and families takes over the space usually reserved for cars. This year we participated and installed ourselves right on Higgins St. Bridge from 12-4. We brought our favorite old objects, our creative selves and played some good old fashioned Object Chess. 150 Missoulians of all ages had a great time creating temporary, life sized sculptures out of our junky objects... One person's trash truly can be a creative treasure!
